I Nolan Reappears.—The South Island, Canterbury and West Coast full-back, G. T. Nolan, made a welcome reappearance for Navy, which took the honours from Army in an interesting match. Nolan was injured early in the season and had to stand down since. He defended ably on Saturday. converted two tries and kicked a penalty goal. Up to Saturday Auckland Grammar had not been beaten for 21 games. Rain, and a heavy ground, made playing conditions difficult at Carlaw Park on Saturday, when the Auckland Rugby League's senior championship competition was continued. Results were:— Richmond 11, beat Mt. Albert 3. Jlanukau 11, beat Newton 5. City 6, beat Otahuhu o. g Marist" 21, beat North Shore 6. Clever Backs.—The Richmond backs combined splendidly in attack, and Harkins, who was playing at live-eighth, pot two tries. In both cases the ball was in-passed after the wins had handled. The Richmond attack was made impressive by McGregor, who showed great speed in the centre, and at all times ran his supports into position before sending the ball on. Strong Manukau Team.—The Maoris put a strong team in the fielG against Newton. T. Chase reappeared after a long absence owing to Injury, and played at wing-three-quarter. P. Ririnui, the heavy-weight forward, turned out, and was prominent ir. the Manukau pack. One of the new Manukau players is A. Thompson, a first nve-eighth from Hawkc's Bay, who has weight land pace, besides which he runs hard and straight in attack.
