ITALY'S TOE BOMBED
Rec. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, July 12. Liberators of the United States African Air Force in daylight yesterday attacked aerodromes at Reggio di Calabria, in the toe of Italy, and Viboyalentia, states a Cairo air communique. Three large fires were started. Many aircraft on the ground were set on fire at Reggio di Calabria. Hangars were set on fire ami administration buildings damaged at Vibovalentia. Two Messerschmitt 109's were destroyed. Light bombers of the Royal Air Force attacked Messerschmitt 109's south-west or Crete and shot one down in flames. All our planes returned froM these operations.
