DIVORCES GRANTED

UNDEFENDED PETITIONS A number of undefended divorce petitions were heard by Mr. Justice Fair yesterday. In seeking dissolution of his marriage with Eileen Jane Hatch; evidence was given by George Robert Hatch that they were married in June, 1939, and that after many disagreements they agreed to part in August of the same year. He left the home, he said, leaving her the furniture, while she agreed to work for herself. Since then they had not come together. A decree nisi was granted. A Soldier's Petition Walter Waddell, a returned soldier (Mr. Dickson), in seeking divorce from Wilma Hughes Waddell on the ground of her adultery with E. Ekman, said his marriage took place in 1935. In May, 1940, he left with the New Zealand forces and went overseas. While in Egypt in October last year he received advice that a child had been born to his wife. He got special leave to return home, and on his arrival found his wife living with the corespondent. Evidence of misconduct was given by the wife. A decree nisi was granted. Other petitions in which a decree nisi was granted were:—Moyra Reid (Mr. Ennor) v. William Angus Reid; Laura Edith Alice Matthews (Mr. Mackay) v. Philip Matthews; Gertrude Lavinia Tuhipo Garlick (Mr. Mackay) v. Athol Charles Garlick; Frederick Rose (Mr. Dickson) v. Violet Eileen Rose; Philip John Williams (Mr. Goldstine) v. Ella Lilian Williams (Mr. Henry). Orders for the restitution of conjugal rights were granted, in the following petitions, the period of 21 days being allowed in .each case for compliance:— Pearl Lilian Jane Sedcole (Mr. Dickson) v. James Archdell Sedcole; William Lloyd. Lewis (Mr. Dickson) v. Ivy Merle Lewis; Josephine Mary Mason (Mr. Aekins) v. Frank Leonard Mason.
