PUBLIC NOTICES ___ NOTICE TO CONSUMERS ON AUCKLAND ELECTRIC POWER BOARD'S SUPPLY. ELECTRICITY CONTROL ORDER. 1943. As from 27th MAY. 1943. electricity from any public supply of electricity may not be used to operate any appliance or equipment for:— (a) Exterior sign lighting. (b) Interior sign lighting other than utility sign lighting. (c) Interior or exterior outline or ornamental lighting. (d) Floodlighting any exterior part of any building. (e) Under-verandah lighting other than community lighting. (f) Community lighting, except on the statutory late night during the period between half an hour after sunset and 9 p.m. (g) Shop window lighting either in excess of an average of 10 watts for each toot of window frontage or outside the period between half an hour after sunset and 9 p.m. on any day. (h) The interior lighting of island or wall or counter showcases. (i) The interior lighting of any theatre, concert hall, dance hall, cabaret, skating rink, public or private hotel lounge, or hotel bar in excess of 60 watts for each 100 square ieet of floor area in any case where the lighting appliance or equipment was in operation before the commencement of this Order, or in excess of 40 watts for each 100 square feet of floor area in any other case. (j) The interior lighting of any shop, milk bar, restaurant or dining room in excess of 100 watts for cach 100 square feet of fioor area.' Nothing in the above shall apply to the use 01 electricity for — (a) The provision of such lighting as may *be required for safety at any entrance or exit to any premises. (b) Under verandah lighting (other than sign lighting) at theatres, concert halls, dance halls or cabarets during the hours of darkness for the period of thirty minutes immediately before . and the period of fifteen minutes immediately after any programme of entertainments. If any authorised person has reasonable ground for believing that any of such requirements are not being or have not been complied with he may. at the expense of the owner or occupier, take all necessary steps to ensure adequate compliance with ell such requirements, including, if he thinks fit, the disconnection or seaiing-up of all equipment in the premises which docs not comply with the ♦ cquhcmenis of this Order. Members of the Voluntary Aids Grey Ladies and Transport Corps are invited to assist in the afcvve appeal to be held on FRIDAY NEXT, the 28th instant. Personnel are asked to assist with the collection, in uniform if possible, between the hours or 12 and 2 p.m. Members of the above personnel should report to their Centre Commandant immediately, it being necessary to ascertain tne number 0: personnel participating in order to provide sufficient boxes, etc. Boxes should be picked up at the Red Cross Centre Office and returned to the Office upon completion of the collection.
