SOCK KNITTING
I was reading in the Star about sock knitting. Here are a few tips I have found worth while, writes a correspondent. When casting on knit two stitches and instead of knitting into the stit-h put the needle in between the otuches. This makes a lovely elastic edge. Also when doing the heel and toe use a reel of silko of similar colour with the wool. It does not wear out so quickly. I always use 10 or 11 needles for the usual fcur-ply wool, and S or 9 for the coarser wools. The bone needles are best, as, according to boys overseas, the sand dqes not hurt the feet the same in loosely knitted socks.
