Private J. F. C. (Jack) Taplin, aged 27, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Taplin, of Point Chevalier, died of wounds. He was educated at the Marist Brothers' School and was manager of the Richmond Rovers football team. A brother of Private Taplin is serving overseas, while another is a prisoner of war in Germany.
