SOCCER REP. GAME AUCKLAND V. JHE SERVICES i Mr. Frank Baker,- chairman, of -the Auckland Football Association, stated at last night's meeting of the control board that no announcement had yet been made by the Government regarding a public holiday on the King's Birthday, June 7. It was decided that if a ' holiday is observed on that Monday, a representative match between an Auckland XI. and a team from the Combined Services should be the main attraction at Blandford Park, with B teams of both sides providing the curtain-raiser. The Junior management committee reported that It had decided to bring the new rule regarding corner kicks into operation In the seventh ana eighth grades next Saturday. This alteration, a local innovation, will mean that the corner kick will be taken from the junction of the penalty area line and the goal line. Senior fixtures for Saturday:—Metro-College v. Papakura, Blandford Park, 3 p.m., F. Green; Comrades v. Garrison, Blandford Park. 1.30 p.m., P. Marino; Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys A v. North Shore, Devonport. 3 p.m., A. Kyle; Eastern Suburbs v. Ponsonby. St. Heller's. 3 p.m., C. G. Edwards; Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys B v. Metro-College B, Fowlds Park, 3 p.m., R. Lalley: Training College v. Air Force, Western Springs, 3 p.m., A. Firth. Rugby League.—At last night's meeting, the chairman, Mr. J. W. Watson, referred to Mr. E. K. Asher's resignation of the secretaryship ot City Rovers after holding that office for- 32 years. He said Mr. Asher had given the code outstanding service, both as a player and official. Suitable acknowledgment of his work is to ue made. The junior control board strongly protested against the action of clubs in granting transfers to junior players without the consent of the board. It was apparent, said Mr. E. Chapman, chairman of the junior board, that the transfer rules were not being carried out. He cited several cases of flagrant defiance of the conditions. The complaints were referred to the clubs—concerned. Rugby Union.—Resolutions of sympathy were passed at last night's meeting with the relatives of the following players who had given their lives for King and country:—Second-Lieutenant M. E. Cross (Grammar), Private T. A. Walmsley (Technical), Able-Seaman J. M. Coote (College Rifles). Mr. K. C. Reld was appointed to fill the position of country adviser in place of Mr. L. Knight, who has resigned. The Kittyhawks were granted permission to change their name to R.N.Z.A.F. It was resolved, on the application of tho Manukau Club, to circulate to clubs the draw for the first round of the senior competition..
