DEATHS ON SERVICE
Advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. A. Thomas, of 63, Taylor Street, Avondale, that their only son, Gunner R. Thomas, has died of wounds. Educated at the Seddon Memorial Technical College, he left, for overseas with the Third Echelon and served as a dispatch rider in Greece and Libya. Reported killed in action is Sergeant J. F. King, husband of Mrs. D B. King, of Otahuhu, and second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. King, of Devonport. He was a keen Rugby League player and played for the North Shore Club. He left for overseas with the Third Echelon. Sergeant King also served in the last war.
