RECORD OF 204 RIXKS ENTERED (By TRUNDLER) The decision of the executive of the Auckland Bowling Association to reopen the list of entries has been fully .justified by results, for there are always some who wait until the last Saturday before making up their teams, and as heavy rain caused some committees to notify durinj; the morning that play was cancelled the attendance at several greens was small. In any case another entry would have been required for the executive fours and the first-year fours, for there was an odd number in each, and this could not be tolerated.

The net, result is that the total entry now is 204 rinks, comprising 26 in the executive, 110 Easter, 48 intermediate, and 20 first-year, against last year's IS, 108, 46 and 22 respectively, which made a total of 194.

The increase has been fairly regular. Working backwards, the totals for the last six years have been 204, 194, 182, 172, IGB, 160.

The meeting of the Umpires' Association last Monday made an important decision, which all umpires and competitors would do well to bear in mind. There is no time limit on the games, but to avoid the possibility of a prolonged game holding up the next round the meeting decided that the second round will start at noon sharp, and the third on the tick of three—any uncompleted games to be played whenever the parties involved can find themselves free.

As the sun sets at about 0.40 during Easter this year, the only way to get the third round completed each day will be to insist on each round starting punctually. The first round must start at 5.45," even if the umpire has not yet examined all the bowls, for he can see the rest during one of the two intervals.
