FATALLY INJURED

AIRMAN IN A JEEP ANOTHER IN HOSPITAL (0.C.) WHANGAREL this day. ; A member of the R.N.Z.A.P. died, from injuries and another was fairly seriously hurt when a jeep in which they were riding skidded in loose metal near the Whangarei Harbour Board slip on Saturday afternoon and capsized over a bank. The victims were:— ' Flying-Offlcer Henry St. Aubyn Murray, 55, widower, who was admitted to the Whangar<-r District Hospital with broken ribs, a fracture of the left arm and collarbone and other internal injuries, from which he died early this morning. A.C. No. 1 Frederick Wadley, of Main Road, Eastbourne, Wellington, several ribs broken. His condition is fairly satisfactory. An inquest into the death of Flying-Officer Murray was opened by the district coroner this afternoon. A doctor said that when admitted to hospital Frying-Officer Murray was suffering from shock, fractured ribs and laceration of the lungs, a broken left collarbone and a broken left arm. His condition showed some improvement, but later it deteriorated, and at 4.30 to-day he suddenly collapsed and died. Flight-Lieutenant Gates, commanding a R.N.Z.A.F. station, said that to visit an army unit Flying-Officer Murray left with Flight-Lieutenant Rowcliffe, who was driving a jeep. Deceased's next-of-kin was FlyingOfficer A. St. A. Murray, R.N.Z.A.F.
