COLLISION AT INTERSECTION

When a guillotine knife struck his left arm yesterday, an apprentice saw-doctor, Mr. John Larsen, of Ku'meu, received seA'ere laceration?. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where his condition to-day was satisfactory. Injuries to the back were suffered by ah employee of the h letchar Construction Company, Mr. Ivan Tolj, aged 66, single, of 24, Davis Terrace. Newmarket, when he • fell from a stack of timber at work yesterday. Mr. Tolj was taken to the Auckland Hospital. His condition to-day was satisfactory. As the result of a collision between a bicvcle and a military vehicle at the intersection of Victoria Street West and Wellesley Street West early last evening, two youths, who ha>d been riding the bicycle together, were taken to the Auckland Hospital. They were Alexander Ellis, aged 17, a fruit preserver, son of Mrs. Jessie Elizabeth Ellis, of 21, Sale Street, Freeman's Bay, who suffered head injuries and concussion, and Desmond Malcolm Smith, aged 15, a labourer, son of Mrs. Millie Smith, of 176, Victoria Street. Freeman's Bav, who suffered fractures of the right arm and nose. Hospital authorities reported to-day that each was in a fair condition. The bicycle was wrecked and the fender of the military vehicle crumpled.
