The word "dogmatic" is an adjective meaning "characterised by positive assertion, making statements without argument or evidence; of the nature of or pertaining to dogma; characterised by dogmatism, opposed to critical." It comes from "dogma," "doctrine, settled opinion, accepted principle, etc." The word "dogma" is a direct transliteration from a Greek word which means "opinion." It in turn comes from "dokeo," meaning "to think."
