CITY POULTRY MARKET
At yesterday's auctions the supply of poultry was medium and the demand fair. The prices paid remained unchanged, with still very little demand for drakes. Selling rates were as follow:— Cockerels, heavy breeds, prime, 7/ to '9/ each; not prime, 5/ to 11; light breeds, prime, 6/ to II; not prime. 3/6 to 5/6; hens, heavy breeds, 6/ to 7/6; light breeds, 4/ to 5/; laying hens, heavy breeds, 7/ to 8/; light breeds, 5/ to 6/; pullets, heavy breeds, best, 12/ to 15/; smaller 5/ up; light breeds, best. 9/ to 11/; smaller, 3/ to 5/; drakes, young, prime, 3/ to 4/; smaller 2/ up; ducks, young, 5/ to 7/; geese, 5/ to 11; turkey hens, 7/6 to 12/; gobblers, 15/ to 25/
