STAKES INCREASED
WELLINGTON WINTER PLANS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington Racing Club has increased the stake-money for its winter meeting in July by £2400. On the opening day the Wellington Steeplechase will carry £1500, the Whyte Handicap £1000, Trentham Hurdles £750, and the Stewards' Handicap £600. On the second day the Winter Hurdles, July Steeplechase and Parliamentary Handicap will each carry £1000. The prize-money for future classics of the club has been increased to £800 in each instance.
