DISPUTE OVER FARM
PURCHASE BY AX ALIEN The hearing of an action, commenced in December, in which Paul Piacun, farmer, of Ngatea, brought a claim for specific performance of an agreement to sell 95 acres of land, including livestock and chattels, against Cecil Burlace Anderson and Sophia Edith Anderson, farmers, of Milford, was continued before Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court to-day. Since the hearing was adjourned Alan Geoffrey Stone, farmer, Matatoki, a subsequent purchaser of the farm, has been .joined as third defendant. Plaintiff also asked for judgment for £83, the value of a ci-op of maize, and £150 general damages, or alternately, if specific performance could not be had, judgment for £83 and £500 general damages. Mr. Haigh and Mr. Turner appeared for the plaintiff, Mr. Garland for the defendants Anderson, and Mr. Henry for the defendant Stone.
Correspondence was read by Mr. Haigh showing that in * February, 1942, plaintiff had agreed to purchase the farm for £4181. but that in July, 1942, the Minister of Justice had, under the Aliens Land Purchase Regulations. 1942, refused to consent to plaintiff purchasing the farm.
