PATRIOTIC APPEAL
COMMITTEE IN FORMATION A number of people have agreed to form themselves into a committee for the collection of patriotic funds in the Auckland metropolitan area this year according to the Mayor, Mr. Allum, who said the committee would be similar to, but larger than that of last year. Sub-committees had been set up and a further meeting would be neld in a fortnight's ! ■- The objective for 1943, £243,900, is made up as follows: National Patriotic Fund £121,000; welfare of returned and discharged servicemen, £47,000; local expenditure, including parcels for overseas, £34,000; short collected in last year s appeal, £42,000. .
