ACHIEVEMENT BY U.S. PLANES PEARL HARBOUR, Aprilo. Land-based navy and marine bombers and torpedo planes from Guadalcanar sank at least 17 Japanese ships, including a battleship, and damaged 68 others between August 95 1942, and February 28. 1943. Rear-seat gunners shot down 11 Zeros and 11 floatplanes.. These figures do not include losses inflicted to -anr'r-based or army planes.
