MOTHERING SUNDAY
Mothering Sunday, the fourth Sunday in Lent, was observed in Anglican churches in the Auckland Diocese yesterday. The day is in honour of mothers, children making small gifts, such as flowers, to their own and other mothers, as tokens of respect and gratitude. In some New Zealand churches children bring flowers which, after being blessed, are distributed to the women in the congregation.
