FATE OF CLIMBERS
(0.C.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. All hope of finding Leading-Air-craftman Wilfred Frank Wallis and Sergeant William Patrick Morton, who have been missing on a climbing trip in the Malte Brun area, near Mount Cook, since March 21, has been abandoned. At a height of about 8500 feet Leading-Aircraftman T. Newth, of the search party, found equipment and clothing spread over a radius of about 300 yards, and this has been identified as belonging to the missing men. There are several deep crevices near the point where these articles were found.
