Work in transforming Government House into a club for servicemen and members of the Merchant Navy is nearing completion in readiness for the opening ceremony by the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, to-morrow afternoon. The club will comprise a lounge, a combined dining room and cafeteria, ice cream stalls and soda fountain, toilet rooms and shower boxes. Facilities for reading and writing are also provided, and table tennis and indoor bowling will be played in the ballroom when it is not being used for dances and concerts.
