TORRENTIAL RAIN
GISBORNE, Thursday. Torrential rain has fallen in the Gisborne district, giving mitcnneeded relief from the prolonged cay spell. . . . The district has had the heaviest soaking it has experienced since August. - For 24 hours to 9 ajn. to-day a fall of 1.33 in was registered. The full benefit of this was assured by a fall of 15 points the previous day, which had moistened the ground. Previously only I*6 pomts had been ■ registered for a montn. Light rain fell to-day.
