INTER-ISLAND MATCH

XO PLAY THIS MORNING (0.C.) WELLINGTON, this day. Owing to rain during the week and again this morning the pitch at the Basin Reserve was unfit for play at 11 o'clock, when the inter-island Army cricket match was scheduled to start. At noon a decision was made by the umpires to inspect the pitch again at three o'clock, with a view to the game commencing soon after that hour. In addition to two former New Zealand captains, Cromb and Page, appearing in this match, Lamason (Wellington) and Postles (Auckland) led their respective provinces in Plunket Shield games, and matches with overseas teams, for several seasons. Although Northern Military District (Auckland) beat Central (Wellington) .by a couple of wickets in two days last week, an extra day was subsequently added for the North v. South natch, which is now timed to finish on February 22. The teams for the inter-Island contest are:— North. —J. R. Lamason, R. J. Coupland (captain). M. A. O'Brien, W. E. Norris, T. L.
