TRANS-HARBOUR BRIDGE
A statement asking the council to support him in his request to the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association regarding a proposed harbour bridge was made by the Mayor of Takapuna, Mr. J. Guiniven, at a council meeting. Mr. Guiniven asked the association to recommend to the Rehabilitation Board the construction of a cross harbour bridge as a post-war project. He said the bridge should be built on the site chosen some years ago by a Royal Commission, between Fanshawe Street ' and Northcote Point, and that the Government should do the work as a national undertaking or allow some private cqncern to do it and charge a reasonable toll. The council supported Mr. Guiniven's request.
