FREYBERG GRATEFUL
"Parcel day is always looked forward to by us all. Not only are we grateful for the gifts themselves, but we deeply appreciate the spirit in which they are sent overseas by the people of New Zealand." In these words Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., expressed thanks to the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee for comforts sent to the N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East from New Zealand. The letter was in acknowledgment of a parcel General Freyberg had received the same day, December 4 last.
