MEAT PRODUCTION
FOUR MONTHS' KILLINGS The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's freezing works from October 1 till January 30, as issued by the Meat Producers' Board, show that lamb killings now total 4,492,761 carcases, compared with 5,072,314 carcases to January 31 last season, a decrease of 579,553. Wether mutton killings are 94,999 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 319,866 carcases, compared with 233,403 and 258,365 respectively last season. Frozen beef production has reached 84,970 quarters compared with 71,665 quarters last season. Porker killings now total 10,245 carcases, compared with 49,717 carcases last season, a decrease of 39,472, while baconers total 58,498 carcases, compared with 146,477 last season, a decrease of 87,979.
