WESTFIELD STOCK SALES
Competition was steady to-day at the Westfield fat stock sales, for a full average yarding of ox beef. Cows and heifers were penned in good numbers and the prices for both classes remained equal with those of recent sales. AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Dalgety and Company and the New Zealand- Loan and Mercantile Agency report on the sales as follows: Beef.—A full average entry ol ox beef came forward. Competition was steady and late rates were fully maintained. There was a good entry of cows and heifers and quotations remain on. a par with late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 39/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox 36/ to 38/, orainary and plain 32/ to 34/; prime young -cow and heifer beef, 31/ to 35/; ordinary cow beef, 23/ to 25/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £15 to £16 2/6; heavy prime steers, £13 10/ to £14 10/: lighter prime steers, £121 to £13. light prime steers. £11 to £11 15/; small and unfinished steers, £7 to. £10 10/; extra heavy i prime young cows and heiiers, £10 to £10 o/, . heavy prime cows and heifers, £8 10/ to 10/, j lighter prime cows and heifers. £ 6 10/ to £1 id/ , other killable cows. £4 to- £6.
