OBITUARY
MRS. E. F. HOGBEN
After a short illness, the death has occurred in Wellington of Mrs. Emily Francis Hogben, )aged 85, widow of the late Mr. George Hogben, C.M.G., who was formerly Director of Education. Mrs. Hogben was the youngest daughter of Mr. Edward Dobson, the first engineer to the province of Canterbury. Both at Timaru, when her husband was headmaster of the Boys' High School, and in Wellington, when he became Director of Education, Mrs. Hogben played an important' part in the social activities of the educational world. Of her six sons only two survive, one being Mr. E. N. Hogben, the recently-appointed headmaster of Wellington College, and Mr. Julius Hogben. the well known barrister ana solicitor, of Auckland.
