NUTRITION TALKS
OF INTEREST TO WOMEN The first of a series of nutrition talks and demonstrations organised by the Auckland Electric Power Board in collaboration with the New Zealand Women's Food Value League took place in the Power Board rooms this afternoon. Mrs. P. Martin Smith, president of the Food Value League, briefly outlined the plan. Weekly talks and demonstrations, she said, would be given during the next few months, and these would touch all members of the community. Special talks would be held to interest business girls on how to keep fit by fcod and exercise. Problems of the middle-aged woman would also be dealt with. This afternoon Vitamin C was discussed. A representative of the Plunket Society spoke on substitutes for orange juice in babies' diets and how to prepare and cock vegetables for children without loss of food value. This was followed by a demonstration of the making of rose hip syrup and the sugarless bottling of fruit. Mrs. H. M. Cox was the demonstrator.
