WAIKATO RACES
STOREY MEMORIAL
BEAU LEON EARLY FAVOURITE
Although he has not won a race this season. Beau Leon, 9.2, is the early favourite for the Storey Memorial Handicap. chief event on the walkato Racing Club s programme at Te Hapa on Saturday, After an interrupted preparation, Mr. E. Cucksey's galloper showed a glimpse of his real form when he finished a close third to Lord Chancellor and Foxlere in the Takapuna Cup at Ellerslie on January 30. A little improvement on that run should make him extremely hard to beat. Lord Cnancellor is not in the Storev, and Foxlore has run badly since his second at El'jtrslie, but Gay Rosette, a good fourth in the Takapuna Cup, is reported to be working well, and she should run a good race. Indian Princess, the Great Northern Derby winner, is nicely weighted at 7.11, and she is entitled to serious consideration, but there is an undoubted possibility that the winner may come from among" those further down in the handicap—notabl%Yolifox and Sealaw. Volifox has been racing prominently, and appeared to be unlucky not to have won the Matamata Cup, while Seaiaw was running on solidly at the end of ihe Takapuna Cup, which was won by bis stabiemate.
