TRAMS AT RAILWAY STATION
Like thousands of others in the recent holiday season I had the experience of departing from and arriving at the Auckland Railway Station and realised afresh how illdesigned it is. in one respect, for the convenience of the public. This is especially evident on arrival. There are taxis there, but —well, nearly everybody now knows what not to expect of taxis. The alternative is the tram. The tram is reached by walking along a long platform, down into a subway, up into the concourse, and along the concourse to the front of the station. If one is strong ana has only one bag this is perhaps, r.o hardship: if not. it is. But why should it be necessary. Why cannot the trams wait, where the taxis wait, beside the arrival platform? Surely the Railway Department and _ the Transport Board between than should have thought of this^.vnen now—and do it. OCCASIONAL TRAVELLER.
