British Submarine Which Took Mission To Africa

YOUNG COMMANDER'S SUCCESS British Official Wireless Rec. 2.30 p.m. RUGBY, Feb. 14. The British submarine which landed the British-American secret mission in North Africa before the Allied invasion, brought officers off after they had made arrangements with the French for the Allied landing, and brought General Giraud from the French coast so that he could be flown to General Eisenhower's headquarters, has returned to its home The commander of.the submarine, Lieutenant N. L. A. Jewell, R.N., who by his share in these missions, contributed much to the success of the North African campaign, is aged 29, and was on his first operation command when entrusted with these highly important special missions.
