In an article published in the Auckland Star on 10th mst., under the heading "Extend Hours and the "Proposed New Order, Mr. * • Craig makes a statement: hue things as travelling time, a minimum weekly wage and an annual pa holiday have been in operation under the Defence Construction Order m Auckland with the unanimous co - sent of the employers represented on the Defence Construction Com mittee." As a matter of fact neither the employers' representatives on the Defence Construction Committee nor the New Zealand Fede ated Builders' Association were consulted in any way whatsoever until the orders had become law The orders were thrust on tne industry as an urgent means to a end, and since they had become law, had to be accepted as such.
