NEW STAND BURNT

ASHBURTOX RACECOURSE, (P.A.) ASHBURTON, this day. The main stand at Ashburton racecourse was destroyed by fire early this morning. The buildintr was in the occupation of a Government Department, and no information as to the origin of the fire is forthcoming. The stand was erected four years ago at a cost of £13,000. and is insured in the Commercial Union for about two-thirds of the cost. Only concrete portions remain standing.
