MAORI SOLDIER'S OFFENCE
"The circumstances are exceptional and the prisoner's O.C. gives him a good army report, while the .probation officer recommends probation," said Mr. Justice Fair to-day in admitting a Maori soldier, Dick Tohu, aged 20, to probation for three years for an offence of unlawful carnal knowledge at Whangarei. Conditions were that the prisoner should marry the girl, according to promise, when she became 16 years of age, and that he should pay 7/6 a -week for -the maintenance of the child.
