NEW GERMAN PLANE
Operating Over Germany And In Middle East SIMILAR TO MOSQUITO Rec. 12.30 p.m. ifUGBY, Feb. 10. In recent raids over Germany and in the Middle East R.A.F. pilots have encountered a new fighter-bomber, developed from the twin-engined Messerschmitt 110. This is the Messerschmitt 210, a machine which is compared in some ways with the British Mosquito. It is a low-wing monoplane carrying a crew of two, a pilot, who acts as bomb-aimer and radio operator, and also a reargunner. It is designed as a long-range fighter, a dive-bomber, or for ground attacks. Its top speed is estimated at from 370 to 380 miles per hour at 18,000 feet, which is 30 to 40 miles faster than the earlier model. Its size is similar and its armament comprises two fixed 20 mm. guns in the nose and two 13 mm. guns in the barbettes, controlled by the rea £"S un ner. The bomb load is up to 22001b and it is estimated that about 9001b of armour-plate is fitted to the machine.
