ROBINSON GIVES AWAY A STONE NEW YORK, February 6. Jacob Lamotta (11.6) beat Ray Robinson (10.5) in 10 rounds at Detroit. It was Robinson's first defeat in 130 contests. Robinson was knocked through the ropes in the eighth round, and was saved by the bell. , Beau Jack (9.11) gained a 10-round decision against Fritzie Zivic (10.5) at Madison Square Garden. A foul blow in the eighth round cost Zivic the round. The crowd resented the decision and staged one of the wildest demonstrations in the Garden's history.
