NAZI BARBARITIES
When I hear a New Zealander utter an anti-Semitic prejudice he becomes a nightmarish creature in my eyes. These figures are for his benefit. They are also for the benefit of him who wishes that the N.Z.E.F. come back instead of going on to invade Europe. Germany: Of 200,000 Jews in 1939, 160,000 have perished or vanished. Austria: Of 75,000 Jews at the start of the war, 15,000 remain. Yugoslavia: 96,000 out of 100,000 are dead. France: 65,000 Jews deported. Netherlands: 60,000 remain out of 180,000. Rumania: Of almost 1,000,000 Jews about a quarter are left. From the Warsaw ghetto 500,000 have disappeared. From a Latvian ghetto 16,000 were driven to a forest, unclothed, and machinegunned. Bohemia. Moravia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Greece, Russia: Equally ghastly figures from every country enslaved by the insane Nazis. A. MALCOLM.
