KILLED IN ACTION

LIEUTENANT A. E. TAYLOR Lieutenant Arthur E. Taylor, who in September was reported missing, believed wounded, is now reported killed in action. Lieutenant Taylor, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Taylor, reside at Mount Albert Road, Mount Roskill, was born in Auckland and educated at the Te Awamiltu and Mount Roskill primary schools and the Auckland Grammar School. A I keen yachting enthusiast, he was a member of the Hamilton and Manukau yacht clubs. His other sports activities included tennis and badminton.

Lieutenant Taylor was among the first to enlist in Hamilton. He left for overseas -in June, 1940, and served in Egypt and Greece. After the campaign in Greece he joined an officers training corps and was commissioned in August, 1941. He then rejoined his unit and was afterwards promoted to lieutenant. He was killed in a night attack on an enemy post in North Africa. Lieutenant Taylor was 28 years of age and unmarried. When he volunteered for service he was holding an executive position with Messrs. H. and J. Court, Ltd., Hamilton.
