PLAYED FOR SCOTLAND
NEW ZEALAND FOOTBALLER N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 8. Flying-Officer Eric Grant, of Gisborne, who captained the R.N.Z.A.F. Rugby football team throughout the season, did not play for New Zealand against the Australians because he was picked for the Scottish trials. He played for The Rest in the first half against Scotland as right centre. During the second half he played for Scotland in the same position, scoring a try and paving the way for two others. Scotland won by 33 to 6. He may be picked to play again for Scotland. Flying-Officer Grant played good football throughout the season, and the New Zealanders certainly missed him against the Australians. Their back line, which is inclined to be slow, flat-footed and unpenetratingv needed his dash and determination.
