JAPS. REINFORCED
YUNNAN BORDER FIGHTING Rec. 1 p.m. CHUNGKING, Feb. 8. The Japanese have reinforced the Yunnan border zone, reports a Chinese communique. Earlier the Japanese were showing signs of collapse in this sector. In a clash near Swatow, 100 Japanese were killed and wounded. One Japanese vessel was sunk. A United States communique says that American fighter planes attacked Japanese columns and installations in eastern Burma and on the BurmaYunnan frontier. At Kengtung several barracks were set on fire and troop-laden trucks were destroyed.
