According to information received in London, France is now paying 500,000,000 francs daily in occupation costs to Germany instead of 300,000,000. It is also Teamed that, as a result of the meeting between Hitler and Laval some weeks ago, France is paying 35,000,000 francs more daily to Italy. Germany demanded extensive deliveries of railway rolling stock and more wheat. She had also been promised about 200 miles of railway lines a month, and 2500 skilled railway workers, in addition to the 9500 which had already gone to Germany.
