POPULAR DETECTIVE
SERGEANT F. J. BRADY FARE WELLED IN AUCKLAND On the eve of his departure for Christchurch, where he has been transferred after long service in Auckland, Detective-Sergeant F. J. Brady was yesterday farewelled by members of the detective and uniform staffs at Police Headquarters. In the unavoidable absence of SubInspector S. G. Hall, in charge of the detective branch, Detective-Sergeant
J. Trethewey presented Mr. Brady with a dinner service, afternoon tea set and a framed mirror. Mr. Trethewey said all members of the force with whom Mr. Brady had served regretted his departure from Auckland. Detective-Sergeant Brady possessed many good qualities, and was not only popular but a keen and efficient officer who had distinguished himself in all branches of police work. Detective-Sergeant P. N. Aplin, Detective J. Hunt and Constable Austing also extended the best wishes of the force to Mr. and Mrs. Brady. In reply, Detective-Sergeant Brady said he had made many friends in Auckland, and his relations with those v/ith whom he had worked had always been of the happiest.' While he looked forward to doing duty in Canterbury, his home province, he genuinely regretted leaving his comrades and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Brady and their family left by this afternoon's express for Christchurch.
