ERNST—READ BRIDE WEARS PEARL SATIN A wedding of interest to residents of Auckland and the Bay of Plenty district took place at St. Barnabas' Church, Mount Eden, on Saturday afternoon, when Mr. Paul Theon Ernst, U.S.A. Medical Corps, of Winton - Salem, North Carolina, was married to Miss Constance May Read, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Arthur Read, of Glenross, Sarawai Street, Parnell. The Rev. G. R. Monteith officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a classical gown of pearl satin with long tight-fitting sleeves. From her shoulders fell the court train, which was surmounted by a Medici collar. Both the train and collar were lined with cyclamen chiffon. Her hat was of pearl satin and tulle trimmed with chiffon roses, and she carried a sheaf of water lilies. The matron of honour, Mrs. K. C. Niblock, of Paeroa, sister of the bride, wore a classical gown of cyclamen chiffon, the bodice being of cyclamen and silver tinsel, beautifully draped, long tight-fitting sleeves and a full skirt. Her headdress was of flowers, with veiling to tone. The bridesmaid, Miss Vere Mclntyre, was similarly attired. They both carried sheafs of water lilies. Mr. Thomas W. Pritchard, of Philadelphia, U.S.A., acted as best men, and Mr. Karis C. Niblock as groomsman. Mr. G. N. Hardy was organist, and Mrs. Cliff Wiseman sang the solo, "I Love You Truly." After the ceremony the guests, numbering over 100, assembled in the Paniell Tea Kiosk, where they were received by Mr. and Mrs. Read. A black marocain ensemble was worn by Mrs. Read, with accessories to tone, and a shoulder spray. The guests included representatives of the U.S.A. military forces. GILFILLAN—DOBBING IVORY SATIN WORN A charming wedding took place at St. David's Church on Saturday, when Miss Doris Dobbing, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Dobbing, of Great South Road, Papakura, was married to Leading-Air-craftman Kenneth Noel Gilfillan, only son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Gilfillan, of Mount Albert.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of ivory satin cut on Grecian lines. The train had insertions of ivory satin embroidered with pale . blue. Her embroidered veil was worn over her face as she entered the church and her sheaf was of lilies. The bridesmaids were Miss Norma Richardson, Miss Patricia Dobbing (sister of the bride) and Miss Dawn Gilflllan (sister of the bridegroom), who wore picture frocks of shell pink embroidered net over taffeta, with trimmings and mittens to match. They wore picture hats in shell pink, the little flower-girl, who led the bride into the church, was Miss Shoana Kerr, and she was dressed in a pretty frock of shell pink sprigged organdie. The solo "Because" was sung by Mr. A. Gold. In attendance as best man was Corporal Neil McKay and the ushers were Aircraftmen Bruce Bennett and Jim Young, R.A.F. . The reception was later held in tne Parnell Tea Kiosk, where Mrs. Dobbing received her guests wearing a black French lace frock and fur coat. The bridegroom's mother was in a black American crepe frock em broidered with cherry and blue.
