ROTORUA, this day"l have seen sufficient on these 56 acres to, reaffirm a conviction I have always held of the productivity of cultivated pumice land," was the opinion expressed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, during his visit yesterday to the State vegetable farm along the RotoruaWhakatane road area, which formed part of Gee's farm; It was taken over by the Department of Agriculture in' July last year for the growing of various kinds of vegetables for the men of the Armed Forces. A remarkable success was achieved from the outset of the undertaking.
To-day the whole 56 acres of land is in a state of high production. "It is an undertaking as splendid as it is successful, and the men and women who labour on it merit the highest commendation," said Mr. Parry to Mr. C.- R: Taylor, field inspector of the Department of Agriculture who accompanied him on his inspection. ~ Mr. Parry said Mr. Taylor deserved high tribute for his skill in the start and layout of the work.
