WAR CONTRACT PROFITS
SOUTH AFRICAN OPERATIONS Rec. noon. CAPETOWN, Feb. 3. Many South Africans are making pots and pots of money from profits on war contracts, declared the Minister of Lands, Senator Conroy. "Let the Government see thaUthey disgorge it after the war to help pay for the new way of living we are going to establish here," he urged. "There will be undreamt of post-war development in South African industries. Do not be surprised if before the end of 1943 we see the war end in a total victory for the Allies." Senator Conroy said that when South Africa entered the war she had not enough war material to keep 10,000 men in the field for two hours, but since then they had been able to equip 150,000 men and produce war material to the value of £200,000,000.
