Bignell—Hare.—Mr. and Mrs. H. Hare, of Point Chevalier, announce the engagement of their youngest daughter. Merle Iris, to Harold, eldest son of Mrs. W. Bignell and the late Mr. H. C. Bignell, also of Point Chevalier. Roper—Clark.—The engagement is announced between Sigm. John Burrell, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Roper, of Wa'ima Road. Glen Eden, and Maida, third daughter of Air. and Mrs. C. H. Clark, of Valley Road, Glen Eden. Hough—Trafford.—The engagement is announced between Sergeant John Hough. Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, voungest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hough, of Napier and Auckland, and Anne Elizabeth (Nance), second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Trafford, of Matawai, Poverty Bay.
