COMMISSION GAINED
An airman who took part in the evacuation of Burma, Sergeant Pilot L. Beable, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Beable, of Hangatiki. has been commissioned pilot officer. After leaving for overseas in 1011 Pilot Officer Beable, who is a well-known King Country athlete, was stationed for some months at Singapore before being transferred to Rangoon. He' shot down his first Japanese plane at Mingaladon.
