MARKET REOPENS FIRMLY
Following the holiday, the market reopened with firm quotations on the Auckland Stock Exchange to-day, but business was light. Bank of New Zealand shares were steady at £2, and other financial issues showed little change. A parcel of Kauri Timbers was quitted at £1 3/3. a rise of 1/3 on last month, and an odd lot of Auckland Gas perpetual debenture stock was placed at £S7 10/ compared with recent business at £84. With buyers at 6/9, the Gas Company's ordinary shares were at their best level since May.
