A.C.A. GAMES START TWO DRAWN, A.S.C. BEATEN The opening of the Auckland Cricket Association's senior chamoionship yesterday was so marred by squalls that only in one of the three matches was even a first innings decision reached, the combined University and Middlemore clubs defeating A.S.C. The other two matches were drawn after skippers A. J. Postles and N. Ellis, i atter winning the toss, had sent their opponents in to bat. W. M. Winter, wno has the reputation ot being the most consistent stonewaller in Auckland cricket, appeared in the role of a hard hitter, and his 68 against the soldiers included 52 from boundaries—a brace of sixes and nine lours.
