BRITISH LEADER'S DEATH British Official Wireless Rec. 1.30 p.m. RUGBY, Oct. 26. With the death of LieutenantColonel John Rock from injuries suffered in a glider crash, the identity has been revealed of the first commanding officer of the glider pilot regiment. Lieutenant-Colonel Rock was a regular officer of the Royal Engineers and served in France in 1939-40. As a brigade-major after Dunkirk he was given the task of originating the British airborne and parachute force. He shared all risks and had a number of narrow escapes in the experimental days of two years ago, and his last accident occurred in an experimental glider flight.
